| ENGLISH THROUGH WALKS AND TALKS
Improve your English through lessons, conversation, Celtic and archaeological walks, films, lectures and discussions with people from the Island. Level of English: +/- intermediate
English instructor: Ursula Murray
Day 1: Welcome at meeting point in Galway, 16.00, boat trip to Inishmore, transfer to accommodation, dinner.
Day 2: Morning: Information about the Island, programme etc, afternoon: walking the low road (seals, early monastic sites, holy wells and standing stones with Ursula (walk 2 hrs), evening: free time
Day3: Morning: lesson: grammar and conversation (2 1/2 hrs), afternoon: free time, evening: meeting in Maggie's Sweater Shop: the old times and the history of the Aran Jumpers.
Day 4: Morning: lesson, afternoon: "Walking the Celtic Way" (rituals and holy places) with Dara Ó Maoildhia, Poll na bPéist (wormhole) and the prehistoric fort of Dún Aonghasa (2-3 hrs), evening: visit my neighbour, the fisherman and basketmaker Vincent McCearán.
Day 5: Morning: lesson, afternoon free time, evening: traditional singing on the Island, in the present and past , with the renowned Sean Nós singer Treasa Ní Mhiolláin, learn a song in English or Irish.
Day 6: Morning lesson, afternoon: "The Man of Aran": the film and the making of the film, evening: free time.
Day 7: Morning lesson, afternoon: walk to Dún Dubh Chathair and the soft sand dunes and wide beaches of Kileany, time for shopping, evening: music session in the local Pub.
Day 8: 12.00 boat to Galway, transfer to B+B, Galway tour with Kim and shopping time, evening: experience a traditional music session in one of Galway's old Pubs.
Day 9: Official end of programme.
The walks are on a easy to medium level.
