STORYTELLING ANTRIM

The life of an Irish Storyteller – Join Liz Weir and friends for a week of stories, music and songs in the peaceful Northeast of Ireland.

Enjoy Irelands mild and colourful Spring, walking in the beautiful scenery of the glens and coasts, visit the famous Giants Causeway and experience the rich tradition of strorytelling and music as a guest of the renowned storyteller Liz Weir. She will introduce you to folktales and myths of her native land and to musicians, singers and other local characters.

Day 1: Getting There

16.00 Meeting point in Hotel near Central Bus station in Belfast City, transfer to Cushendall, welcome dinner in the Barn, prepared by Liz.

Day 2 : Morning

introduction to programme, stories and folkore of Antrim with Liz, afternoon: guided walk in the beautiful Glenariff Forest Park: rivers and waterfalls (walk: 2 hrs), evening: free time.

Day 3:

Bus trip to the famous “Giants Causeway”, breathtaking walk along the cliffs with view as far as Scotland (2-3 hrs), dinner in the Barn, evening: relax with some stories about the places you have visited today.

Day 4: Morning

storytelling Workshop with Liz, afternoon: free time, evening: dinner, stories, songs and music in the Cushendall Boatclub.

Day 5: Morning

free time, afternoon: visit the famous Ulster Folk Museum with Liz, evening: free time.

Day 6: Morning

walk to the “Carrick-a-rede-Ropebridge, cross if you dare (1 hr), afternoon: guided tour through the Bushmill’s Distillery, taste a sample of Ireland’s best whiskey, evening: free time.

free time, afternoon: Cushendall cliff walk to the old Layde Church (1-2 hrs), evening: music session in MCCollam’s Pub.
