Will the strands of Northern Ireland society after 30 years of civil warlike conditions find peace with each other?

Since 1998 the country tries to find a common social consensus, but the wounds of decades of violence have not yet healed.

TRAVEL / FLIGHTS

The participants must book their own flights. The trip can also be extended.
Once we have the minimum of 17 registrations, we will confirm the trip.
At this point the flights can be booked. Usually you get the best prize if you book on the Internet, but you can also book through any travel agency.

INCLUDED

8 nights in 4* and 3* hotels in Belfast and Ballycastle (sharing).

All bus transport and entrance fees.

5 dinners and 4 lunches.

Tours, lectures and other activities as specified on programme.

NOT INCLUDED

Flights, cancellation insurance.

Beverages, tips and remaining meals.

3 nights in the Tara Lodge, Belfast, 5 nights at the Marine Hotel, Ballycastle.

The price will be adjusted  if the exchange rate changes. With less than 17 participants a surcharge has to be applied as the joint costs for this programme are very high.

Up to 60 days before departure: 10% of the total price
59-31 days before departure: 40% of the total price
30-1 days before departure: 70% of the total price
On the day of departure or no show up: 90% of the total price

Day 1: Mon, 25 April

Meet in Dublin Airport at 11.00 clock, visit the well-known journalist Martin Alioth in Julianstown, tour and lunch in the garden of Rosemount, conversation and discussion, continuing to Belfast, dinner, overnight in **** Hotel Tara Lodge.

Day 2 : Tues, 26 April

Political tour of Belfast (by bus and on foot) with the organization of Corrymeela (Peace Centre), lunch, meeting with people from both sides, time for conversations, discussions and questions with competent representatives of the peace movement.

Day 3: Wed, 27 April

The artistic approach to the crisis and the peace movement: meeting the sculptor Raymond Watson (Ex-IRA member and political prisoner until 1998) and Colum Sands, singer and songwriter (brother of Tommy Sands, who died in 1981 on hunger strike), visit Crumlin Road Gaol (former prison, since 1996 museum) with Raymond, afternoon at own disposal (city tour, Titanic Museum, strolling etc.)

Day 4: Thurs, 28 April

By bus to (London-)Derry, city tour and visit the institute “Incore” (Centre for Studies of Peace and Conflict at the University of Ulster). Continue to Bally-castle at the sea side, dinner, overnight stay in the *** Marine Hotel.

Day 5: Fri, 29 April

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Giants Causeway”, spectacular cliff walk (2 1/2 hours), alternatively: time in the Visitor Centre: film, lunch and transport by bus, visit the Bushmills Distillery.

Day 6: Sat, 30 April

A day in the Corrymeela Centre (Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Work), focus: the role of women in the peace process, lunch and evening meal in the centre.

Day 7: Sun, 1 May

Visit the Glenariff National Park in the famous Glens of Antrim, guided walk along the waterfalls (1 hr) or transport by bus, lunch at the Larragh Lodge, visit to storyteller Liz Weir: reconciliation through stories and presentation by Raymond Watson of his art work, influenced by the conflict, evening: soup, sandwiches and music and story session with Liz and friends.

Day 8: Mon, 2 May

Visit Rathlin Island, guided walk to the Seabird Centre, the largest sea bird colony in Europe (2 hrs on foot or transport by bus), conversation with an Islander about the situation on the island during the crisis and today, dinner.

Day 9: Tues, 3 May

Transfer to Dublin Airport in the morning: arriving approx. 9.30 am
