Six-day cultural program on Inis Mór, with plenty of time to relax, finishing with a visit to the “Féile Chois Cuain”, a great festival in Louisburgh with lots of music, singing, dancing, workshops and hiking in the beautiful surroundings of Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, a pretty town surrounded by mountains and endless beaches.

Festival Féile Chois Cuain: A celebration of traditional Irish music and song The little town of Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, will be alive with traditional music, song, dance and craic for the 18th annual Féile Chois Cuain over the May Bank Holiday weekend. More information: www.feilechoiscuain.com

Louisburgh is a small pretty town in Co. Mayo in the shadow of Croagh Patrick, surrounded by a splendid majestic mountain scenery, open blanket bog and long sandy beaches. The area contains over 700 archeaological sites.

Day 1:

Meeting in Galway 16.15, bus and boat to the island, dinner at Bayview Restaurant, transfer to the accommodation

Day 2 :

Introduction and information about the island and the program by Elizabeth, walk along the cliffs to Bunghabhla (hiking time: about 2 1 / 2 hours), shopping

Day 3:

Morning: Introduction to Sean-nós singing by Elizabeth and singing with the well known Sean nós singer Treasa Ní Mhiolláin, walk to the “Seven Churches” and the cliffs, visiting Dun Eoghanacht and famous Dun Aonghasa, small dinner at the Coffee Shop in Kilmurvey.

Day 4:

Morning at your own disposal, afternoon: Visit the seal sanctuary and on to the holy place of Assurnai, the only female saint on the island and the ruined church of St. Kieran, on to Kilronan (visitor center, museum, pubs and shops)

Day 5:

Morning at leisure or singing with Treasa, afternoon: visit to the ancient monastic settlement of St. Enda and the soft sandy beaches of Kileany, walk along the impressive cliffs to the “puffing holes” and the smallest church in Ireland (St. Bennan) back to Kilronan (3 hrs.)), dinner at Joel’s.

Day 6:

Morning at leisure or singing with Treasa, traditional potato dinner in the Center, evening: “session” at the cozy coal fire with Treasa Ni Mhiolláin, Deirdre Ní Chonghaile, the Mulkerrins, and other islanders.

Day 7:

12.00 boat to Rossaveal, private bus to Louisburgh, Co. Mayo to the lovely Ocean Lodge in Killadoon near Louisburgh, dinner, transfer to Louisburgh: 7.30 Youth concert with young artists, Cheese and Wine reception in the Hotel and Music and Singing Sessions in the local pubs.

Day 8:

Option to attend the one of the numerous workshops and master classes or walk along the long sandy beaches, 16.15 big Singing Session with Ireland’s best Sean nós singers, 8.45 Gala Concert, followed by sessions in the local pubs.

Day 9:

Departure for those who need to leave earlier, for the others: guided walk in the area, evening: sessions in the pubs, 10.30 Set Dance Céili.

Day 10:

Departure to Dublin or Galway, (or stay a day longer: there will be lovely and relaxed sessions in the Pubs all day on Monday)
