Island Culture through Walks and Talks
Improve your English in an enjoyable way: through lessons, conversation, Celtic and archaeological walks, films, stories, lectures and discussions with people from the Island. (level of English: +/- intermediate) English instructor: Ursula Murray
1.Tag: Welcome at meeting point in Galway: 16.00, boattrip to Inishmore, transfer to accommodation and dinner.
2.Tag: Morning: Information about the Island, programme, etc., afternoon: walking the low road (seals, early monastic sites, holy wells and standing stones) with Ursula (2hrs), evening: free time.
3.Tag: Morning: lessons: grammar and conversation (2 1/2 hrs), afternoon: free time, evening: meeting in Maggie's Sweater Shop: about old times and the history of the Aran Jumpers.
4.Tag: Morning: lessons, afternoon: "Walking the Celtic Way" (rituals and holy places) with Dara O Maoildhia, visit "Poll na bPéist" (the wormhole) and the prehistoric fort "Dun Aonghasa" (2-3 hrs), evening: visit my neighbour, the fisher-man and basket maker Vincent Mc Cearán.
5.Tag: Morning: lessons, afternoon: free time, evening: the art of traditional singing on the Island in the past and in the present with the renowned Sean-nós Singer Treasa Ní Mhiolláin, learn a song in English or Irish.
6.Tag: Morning: lessons, afternoon: "The Man of Aran", the film and the making of the film, evening: free time.
7.Tag: Morning: lessons, afternoon: walk to "Dún Dubh Chathair" and the soft sand dunes and wide beaches of Kileany (2-3 hrs), visit the museum in Kilronan, time for shopping, evening: music "Session" in the local Pub.
8.Tag: 12.00 boat to Galway, transfer to B+B, Galway tour with Kim and shopping time, evening: experience a traditional music "Session" in one of Galway's old Pub's).
